Mohammed Nowshad
​
Nowshad is currently in the final stages of a PhD at KUFOS in the field of Echinoderms and has extensively traveled within and around the Lakshadweep archipelago, conducting over 400 dives in the region. He has explored all the inhabited and uninhabited islands of Lakshadweep. During his field research, he participated in community conservation programs and education initiatives. Additionally, he conducted surveys in coral reefs and sea grass beds to assess their health and worked on habitat restoration, including coral and sea grass restoration. He played a key role in founding 'REEF', an NGO dedicated to research, education, and conservation in marine habitats in Lakshadweep as founder member.

Mohamed Abdul Raheem
​
Raheem is a PADI Dive Instructors in Lakshadweep, Raheem likes all things in the ocean and a passion in bringing that love of sea life to kids and people in the island , especially trough his work with ocean school education programs. 
Having one of the most well known dive centers in Agatii, Raheem  takes the oppurtunity on learning more  on the islands ecology. Raheem is an advocate of  citzen science and has worked with the forest department on their long term coral reef project.
He is also an astute entreprenuer and bussinessman.

Educator and Media Manager

Safair Ali "Jafeer "Jereesh
 
Jafeer is from Kadmat atoll. He has a Bachelors degree in Zoology followed by a Masters in Mass communication and Journalism. He was a sub editor for The Lakshadweep times for 10 years.He is very 
interested in using social media to inform and educate his fellow islanders  on a range of topics especially on the environment. He is also very interested involving children in experiential learning through field trips, role play and thought experiments. He is an avid badminton player with a long running rivalry against our very own Sharaf !!!

Technical support staff

Ajmeer Khan

Ajmeer is from Agatti island and is a SCUBA diver. He has worked previously as an assistant in an Octopus Monitoring project and as a field assistant in a Turtle monitoring project for researchers from the Wildlife Institute of India. He is also handy with paint as an artist.

Noustheetha came to work for REEF after 10 years working at the Government Industrial Training Institute  at  Kavatati . She was an accountant for 4 years prior to becoming the accountant manager for another 6 years.

Founder and Secratary

Abdul Riyas. C

Riyas is a marine researcher and conservationist currently serving as a Project Officer at the Department of Science and Technology. He is focusing on the intensification and developing reef restoration technology project in the Lakshadweep Archipelago. He is  currently pursuing a Phd at KUFOS , specializing in coral reef studies. Riyas has done more than 400 dives to explore marine biodiversity in various inhabited  and uninhabitat islands of Lakshadweep. His commitment to marine conservation is exemplified through active participation in community conservation programs , educational initiatives and comprehensive surveys of coral reefs. As a founding member of REEF he continues to make invaluable contributions to the preservation and understanding of marine ecosystems.

Technical support staff

Sharafudheen K M.
​
Hailing from Chetlat Atoll, Shararf has worked with the Lakshadweep forest department as a field assistant for  20 years, Sharaf has hours of diving and boating experience. He has seen the underwater worlds of all the islands in the Lakshadweep. He is an avid speaker and will have conversations with you even if you don't know the language, very useful on those long boat trips. He is a very good badminton player.

Ilthuthmish  Nasarulla

 From Chetlat Atoll, Ilthuthmish is a Master Scuba diver, with many years of diving experience with the Dept of Science and Technology in Kavaratti Island. Ilthuthmish has vast experiece with boat handling and boat maintenence. He is also an avid cricketer.
